Storm [80's Mohawk]
Ororo Munroe’s new look in Uncanny X-Men when this came out was one of those legendary moves that doesn’t seem shocking today but was a real flex at the time. It was tied to their experiences in the preceding issues and some personal trauma, and an outward expression of a new direction for the character as a person and a leader. As I got a bit older I was amused they leaned into punk imagery given that the themes of rebellion against systems and xenophobia were rampant in post-music punk culture enough that this design for an African born institutional leader seemed retrospectively either bold or off-message. But it sure looked rad.
