Sabine Wren - Star Wars Rebels
Of all of the character designs in Star Wars Rebels, Sabine Wren’s was immediately my favorite: colorful, edgy with the graffiti, changing with each season, but also a look that was deeply connected to her character arc. As an artist and a rebel, she changed up her armor constantly. Nothing was precious. Change was the constant. Particularly given how personal and precious Mandalorian armor is, her willingness to change it, and herself along the way, was a key component of the thematic progression of the series. That it ended in its final scene with a more serious, solemn Wren was important as well. In attempting to capture this character, I wanted her to be youthful and athletic, a little bit smug… but mischievous too.
