X-23 vs. Taskmaster

from $8.00

One of the fun things when working with X-23 is her insane regenerative power, which not only bestows upon her near-invulnerability, but allows her to keep fighting even as she is wounded. With Wolverine we often see him limbless and hurling his torso at enemies to bite their jugulars or whatever, but across many X-23 stories I’ve seen the stakes a little lower and more interesting to me, as in: stabbed in the gut, burned, dropped from a height… so in this piece, what I really loved about it was that vibe of two warriors at close range, each getting the kill-strike in. Usually that’s a last-minute surprise, like the Night King in Game of Thrones being skewered in the ribs by the Dragonglass shiv, or the villain is defeated but the hero then falls over from their own wounds… here, we have Laura with a pretty rough in-and-out stabbing, and Taskmaster surprised to find her claws penetrating his almost-adamantium level shield. I love it.
