Power Girl [Redesign]
I fully get the conceit of the Power Girl costume. I also get that it’s soaked in male gaze and developed by male comic creators in a difficult time. Amanda Conner’s efforts to take back some agency in this concept, building on her size and musculature and owning the ‘window’ as a mockery of opponents who might be distracted, that was all welcome. In this redesign, I made reference to that design with the shape of the tunic cut, and used the same colors, but overhauled the rest. I also gave her a cape, as a nod to her power level being close to Superman’s and being a character not at much risk from cape-grabbing complications.
