I always thought the Disney design for Maleficient was the most striking villain in the early animated classics… jet black with horns and pale skin and cool violet accents! When my lovely wife saw the first live action remake with Angelina Jolie, she was over the moon as this was her favorite Disney character. I really liked how angular and mesmerizing they made her face in that film. Here, I took elements of the classic design and modified them, blending with Jolie’s facial prosthetics and horns and some cues merging the long sawcut sleeves from the classic robes with the larger, flowing robes and cape from the film. Super fun!
