Luke Cage
Growing up, I did NOT like Luke Cage’s classic look. I wasn’t into the character at all, though admittedly he wasn’t written for me. But I did like the dynamic with Iron Fist. His appearances in the ‘Fan-Pro Years’ once Brian Michael Bendis began the era of revitalizing older characters with a new narrative eye were more interesting to me. His portrayal in the Marvel Netflix series really amped up my interest in him, and I found myself working on this classic Luke Cage one evening. Everything I didn’t like about the design when I was 12 suddenly seemed fun. Big chain belt! Poofy Renaissance shirts! Weird jewelry!
