Liz Sherman - Hellboy [Halloween 2012]
This is the Wrong Rocket Halloween piece for 2012: Liz Sherman from Hellboy and BPRD. I always loved this character and can never really tire of drawing her. I’ve done her film version, the animated series version, the original comic iteration as Mignola first presented, and now a pin-up grrrl style. How she got the Right Hand of Doom, we’ll never know. Well, maybe it’s the Left Hand of Doom, as it turns out.
What’s funny about the Liz obsession is that Mignola never intended her to be an attractive female character. She was withdrawn, haunted, broken and that reflected in her appearance and general demeanor. It was the film, I think, followed by the work of other artists, that pushed her into the ‘pretty’ realm. For me, I just projected my mental image of her onto that early character, as I suppose everybody else did.
Have a great All Hallow’s Eve and Halloween Night, gang!
