Padme Happy New Year Pinup [Star Wars]
For this year’s Wrong Rocket Happy New Year Pinup series, we have contributing artists from the US, Portugal, and Germany. For the 2021 - 2022 collection, we continue our theme of ball gowns and cocktail dresses, as if attending a galactic celebration. The second of four pieces this year is Padme Amidala, tragic mother of the Skywalker twins and original Star Wars combat bare midriff ensemble, with Darth Vader as the New Year’s Baby. This one was illustrated by Bernard Redahan. He has a singular talent for drawing muscular, powerful figures, nearly matched by his uncanny ability for doing likenesses. I love the textures in this gown, playing with one of the most striking Naboo royal outfits in the films. Outstanding piece!
