Dejah Thoris
I’ve drawn a lot of esoteric stuff. Dejah Thoris is a classic in SF, and the upstaging of John Carter of Mars by all the projects that came later but were inspired by it is well known, in literature as well as film. Dejah Thoris is the original alien warrior princess in a pulp fantasy as far as I’m concerned. In this piece I was playing with color as well as visual texture with the tattoos. I have a lot of competing ideas for this character, so maybe more will follow. And go rent or stream ‘John Carter’ (of Mars, those cowards) as it really deserved an audience!
