Cover Girl Pinup - G.I. Joe
This was a cool commission for a longtime client, featuring Cover Girl from G.I. Joe! For this cheesecake pinup, the client wanted her shown servicing some Gi.I. Joe hardware. I’m pretty nostalgic about the first series of small scale G.I. Joe toys, as I was of the age to be the right target audience for them when they came out. I remember getting most of that first collection, and how much more traditionally military they were than the more fantastical designs of the next iteration. So, I based this missile loosely on an AGM-84 Harpoon, for fixed-wing aircraft. It has the sleekness and form factor I associated with surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles I saw pictures of as a kid. Like other pinups of this type, the fun challenge was giving it a little spice without getting too spicy. The hair was his favorite part.
