Atom Eve

from $8.00

Samantha Eve Wilkins was an immediate standout character in early Invincible comics. One of those characters that becomes the main interest even though it isn’t their book, necessarily. Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker developed a number of great characters playing on tropes in big comics, but I have to say Walker nailed the design of Atom Eve so perfectly. I must have drawn her at least a dozen times over the years. The pink colorway is so striking and the design is rad overall, as is the name. In this piece, I took my usual stab at redesigning the character, recontextualizing certain design elements and bringing out features I like. The offset oversized symbol in the tunic was a statement about how she can be provocative to people intimidated by her: as a woman, as a super, as an impossibly powerful entity… I really love it.
